Put on the Full Armor of God

God’s armor equips you to face every battle. Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, salvation, God’s Word, and prayer protect and empower you to live in victory.

The Roman soldier we’ve been talking about this week is already on the battlefield.

His belt is fastened, holding everything together.
His breastplate guards his heart.
His shoes give him a firm footing.
His shield is lifted to block the fiery arrows flying his way.

But two other essentials complete his armor: a helmet to defend his mind and a sword to strike back against the enemy.

Salvation is the helmet that guards your thoughts.

A strike to the head could end a soldier’s life.

In the same way, so many of our battles begin in the mind. But salvation covers you with confidence in who you are in Christ.

You are forgiven.
You are redeemed.
You are secure.

When you wear the helmet of salvation, your identity is no longer shaken by the enemy’s lies.

God’s Word is your sword.

The sword was both defensive and offensive in nature. A skilled soldier used it not only to protect himself but also to advance forward.

Paul calls the Word of God our sword. It cuts through lies and gives us the power to fight back.

When Jesus was tempted in the wilderness, He answered every attack with Scripture. He didn’t argue. He didn’t negotiate. He declared, “It is written.” That’s the power of the sword in action.

Finally, Paul closes by reminding us that prayer is what ties it all together. Prayer keeps us connected to God, who is our strength and source of victory.

Put on the Full Armor of God

So every morning, before you face the battles of the day, put on the full armor.

Live grounded in truth.
Guard your heart with righteousness.
Stand firm in peace.
Lift up faith.
Protect your mind with salvation.
Fight back with God’s Word.
And cover it all in prayer.

Because when you wear the full armor of God, you are not only protected; you are equipped to live in victory.
