The Superpower for Overcoming Life’s Challenges

Life doesn’t hand out hall passes for challenges. Otherwise, I’d hand as many out to my loved ones as possible.

We don’t want to suffer. We don’t want the people we love to suffer.

But sometimes life throws us curveballs. It can seem unfair and unpredictable.

But here’s the truth: the rough times don’t define you; how you respond does. And one of the most powerful tools you have to rise above is…. Gratitude. Gratitude flips the script on hardship.

When life feels heavy, it’s easy to get stuck in the loop of “Why me?” But gratitude shifts your focus from what’s wrong to what’s right.

It’s not about pretending everything’s perfect but appreciating the good, even when the bad looms large.

Gratitude doesn’t erase the struggle; it gives you the strength to face it.

Paul the Apostles suffered more than most people in history. But here’s his perspective: “But we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” (Romans 5:3)

Hope.

Rough patches aren’t roadblocks—they’re training grounds. Training grounds for all the moments you’ll be needed to step up, serve your community, and fight for purpose.

People need you. They need the battle-hardened, resilient, and joyful version of you.

When life feels easy, use that time to grow. Gratitude turns rest into preparation.

Gratitude makes room for joy—right now. Too often, we push happiness into the future: “I’ll feel good once I’ve hit my goal, landed that job, or fixed this situation.” But joy isn’t a destination; it’s a choice.

Gratitude teaches us to find joy in the journey, no matter where we are. It whispers, Look around—you already have so much to celebrate.

Happiness isn’t waiting for you on the other side of success—it’s found in gratitude today.

Want to make gratitude a habit? Start small. Begin your mornings in prayer and list three things you’re thankful for. Before bed, say your prayers and celebrate your small victories before you sleep.
