The Shoes of Peace: Standing Firm and Moving Forward

Peace is not the absence of trouble but the presence of God. With the shoes of peace, you stand firm, move forward, and live unshakably.

If you picture the Roman soldier’s armor, I bet the last thing you think of is his sandals.

Footwear isn’t very imposing.

But let me ask you this… Would you charge boldly into a jagged battlefield barefoot?

Of course not. You’d be looking down constantly.

You’d be distracted. Anxious that one false step would take you down.

Roman soldiers wore sandals built for battle. Thick leather straps held them tight, and spikes, like cleats, gripped the ground on the bottom.

With the right sandals, soldiers didn’t have to charge in anxiously.

You, my friend, are offered this same peace in life’s battles.

If you lack peace, you lack boldness.

Paul writes in Ephesians 6:15, “…and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.”

Some of you are paralyzed and unable to charge forward with boldness.

You lack peace.

Anxious, worried soldiers are bound to get themselves and others hurt.

Peace is not the absence of trouble. It’s the presence of God.

It’s knowing that no matter what comes, your foundation is secure in Him.

Peace gives you stability when everything around you shakes. And it prepares you to move forward, carrying good news to others.

When your feet are fitted with peace, you are unshakable.

You can face stress with calm.
You can respond to conflict with grace.
You can walk into uncertainty with confidence.

So today, put on the shoes of peace.
Root yourself in the gospel.
Trust that God reigns, even in the chaos.

And step forward, ready to share His peace with the world around you.
