It's Not Laziness

Resistance stops beginnings, not ability. God rejoices in small starts. Push through fear with one tiny act of obedience—He can multiply anything you’re willing to begin.

Let me ask you something.

How many times this past year did you stare at a blank page…
Or sit in your car outside the gym…
Or carry an idea in your heart for months…
And still couldn’t get yourself to start?

It was like something inside you froze.

That invisible heaviness you felt (and might still feel to this day) is not laziness; it’s resistance.

And resistance is rarely about effort, but about fear.

Fear of failing, fear of being judged, and sometimes even fear of succeeding.

It shows up in sneaky ways:

Scrolling “for inspiration.”
Cleaning the whole house before starting the actual task.
Convincing yourself that you need the perfect plan before taking the first step.

Resistance doesn’t stop your ability. It stops your beginning.

You don’t overcome resistance with giant leaps.
You overcome it with one small step.

Starting is the hardest part. Just like getting out of bed on a freezing morning.
Everything in you wants to stay under the covers… until you finally stand.
And once you're up, the hardest battle is already won.

Start small, but start.

Because once you begin, momentum starts to build and fear loses its grip.

The Bible says in Zechariah 4:10, “Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin.”

God doesn’t wait for perfection to bless your journey. He celebrates your start.

You may not see the full picture yet.
You may feel behind everyone else.
You may worry that you don’t have a clear plan.

But God does.

Your job isn’t to make the whole thing happen today.

Your job is to take the first faithful step.

Because every time you push through the resistance—even a little—you grow, you stretch. You transform...
You discover you’re capable of more than you thought.

And over time, those tiny, trembling beginnings turn into strength, purpose, and confidence.

So today, don’t wait to feel ready.
Don’t wait to feel brave.
Don’t wait until conditions are perfect.

Do the small thing you’ve been avoiding.
God can multiply what you’re willing to begin.

Start a little.
Start scared.
Start imperfect.

But start.
