Heaven Put a Light in You for a Reason

You weren’t created to tone down your light. God designed you to shine. Embrace your difference, reject shrinking, and step boldly into the rooms where your purpose thrives.

When was the first time you realized you were different?

Maybe it was when your ideas didn't fit the mold.
Maybe it was someone who rejected you.
Maybe it was an adult always telling you to "tone it down" as if your brightness was something to apologize for.

You know those moments. Where being yourself felt… dangerous.

Here's what I wish someone had told me when I was younger: You weren't made to blend in. You were made to light up.

Every light was made to shine.

Not every light bulb looks the same. Some glow softly in nightlights. Others shine so fiercely they guide ships through storms. But every single one does the same essential thing: it gives light.

Your life works the same way. God didn't design you to imitate someone else's glow. He gave you a light that's uniquely, powerfully yours.

Matthew 5:14 says, "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden."

Not "you could be." You are.

So stop editing yourself to fit in. Stop shrinking to make others comfortable. Those traits you've been taught to tone down might be the very gifts God intends to use to change someone's life.

You might just be shining in the wrong room.

The teacher who dismissed your ideas. The boss who said you were "too intense." The family member who couldn't see your vision.

Their disbelief doesn't define your worth.

You don't have to dull your light to match their comfort level. You need to find your people—the ones who don't just tolerate your difference, but treasure it.

Because in the right room, your light doesn't feel blinding. It feels like sunrise.

Your difference is your superpower.

Your background, your questions, and your creativity are not obstacles to overcome. They're the doorway to your purpose. What makes you different is how you'll serve others.

You were designed differently on purpose. For a purpose.

So when the world tells you to hide your light, remember:

Fitting in is easy. But shining bright—exactly as God made you—is where real impact happens.

The world doesn't need another copy. It needs you.
