Facing the Biggest Dare of All

Stop settling for a life of comfort when God called you to build. Use discipline to bridge the gap between your fear and your future.

The meeting room is quiet now.
Your palms are still a little sweaty.
You just threw a bold idea onto the table.
It was big and risky. It felt like a dare.

Most of us stop taking dares after childhood.

We swap the playground for a cubicle.
We trade the leap of faith for a steady paycheck.
We get used to the pace.
We get comfortable with the predictable.

But there is a weight in your chest.
It is the heavy feeling of wasted potential.
It is the cost of staying still.

The climb is worth the views.

I think of our growth like building a bridge.
On one side is where we stand today.
On the other side is the version of us God intended. Discipline is the steel that holds that bridge together.

Without it, we are just standing on the edge.
We are looking across the gap.
We are wondering "what if" while the sun goes down.

In 2 Timothy 1:7, we are reminded, "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind."

That power is not for sitting still.
That mind is meant for building.

If you want something different, you have to do something different.

The hardest step is the first one.

We often ask what happens if we fail.
We worry about things going wrong.
We fear the effort might not be worth the result.

Try asking a different question today.
What if this succeeds?
What if this work creates a new standard for your family?
What if your best self is just one disciplined choice away?

You have to cut out the clutter.
Some habits are just dead weight on your bridge.
Some voices only tell you why you should stay put.

Your future is waiting for you.

The discomfort of growth is temporary.
But the pain of regret lasts a lifetime.

Look in the mirror before you leave the house.
Ask yourself if you are ready to commit.
The answer is already in your heart.

It is time to move forward.
It is time to transform the "what if" into "what is."

The next stone on the bridge is waiting.
Go set it in place.
I dare you.
