You’re further than you think. Every small step of faith matters. Look back, thank God for progress, and keep walking; He’s not finished with you yet.
A few years ago, I heard a story about a young woman training for her first marathon.
She wasn’t a professional athlete. She was just someone who wanted to prove to herself that she could finish what she started.
The first week, she couldn’t even make it past a single mile. Her legs hurt, her lungs burned, and quitting sounded easier every day.
One morning, after a particularly hard run, she sat down on the curb, head in her hands, ready to give up.
That’s when her coach walked over, sat next to her, and quietly said, “Before you decide to quit, turn around.”
When she did, she saw the long, winding road she had already run. The same road that once seemed impossible.
Step by step, day by day, she had covered more ground than she realized.
And suddenly, something shifted…
Every single step forward, every small decision to keep going, is proof that you’re moving further away from the version of yourself that almost quit.
Maybe you haven’t reached the finish line yet.
Maybe you’re still tired, still waiting for the breakthrough, still wondering if it’s even worth it.
But look back for a second:
You’re not where you started.
You’ve grown.
You’ve endured.
You’ve overcome things that once felt impossible.
Philippians 1:6 reminds us, “He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
The journey may still be long, but the progress you’ve made is sacred.
So today, pause for a moment.
Don’t just focus on how far you have to go.
Take a look back and thank God for how far He’s already brought you.
He is proud of you, and so should you.
Because you’re not the person who almost quit anymore.
You’re the person who kept walking.
