Don’t Trade a Day for a Minute

Every day is a deposit of grace—86,400 seconds gifted by God. Don’t waste the day replaying the bad minute. Guard your joy and live with gratitude.

Imagine this for a second.

You wake up tomorrow morning and find that someone’s just deposited $86,400 into your bank account.

You’d be thrilled, right?

That’s a life-changing gift.

But then, later that day, someone steals $60.

Would you panic?

Would you throw away the remaining $86,340 because of what you lost?

Of course not. You’d move on and protect what’s left.

So why do we let one bad moment steal an entire day?

Every day, God gives you 86,400 seconds, a brand-new account of time and grace.

And yet, it only takes 60 seconds to completely throw us off.

A harsh comment from a spouse…
A frustrating traffic jam…
A single mistake at work…  

We replay those seconds over and over in our minds, letting them grow until they swallow our joy, our peace, and sometimes even our faith.

A moment doesn’t have the power to ruin your day unless you permit it.

I once heard someone say, “Don’t let a bad five minutes cost you 23 good hours.”

That phrase stuck with me. Because most of what ruins our day isn’t the event but our decision to dwell on it.

The Bible reminds us of this truth in Philippians 4:8:

"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things."

Paul didn’t say bad things wouldn’t happen. He said focus on the good anyway.

Every time you choose to release the irritation, forgive the offense, or let go of the small things, you reclaim your peace.

You guard your joy like it’s the treasure it truly is.

Joy is the refusal to let problems define your day.

So, the next time someone “steals” 60 seconds from your day, pause and remember: you still have 86,340 seconds left to live, laugh, and love.

Don’t give away what’s priceless for something so small.

God’s already credited your account with another full day of grace.

Spend it wisely.
