Chosen Before You Were Ready

God calls the willing, not the perfect. Name your calling, take one step, and trust Him with every gap your ability cannot reach.

You're sitting with a calling that feels too big for you.
You've circled it for months, maybe years.
You know it's there.
But you keep finding reasons to stay on shore.

This happened to Moana, one of my favorite Disney characters.
She was raised to be an island girl.
Stay close, stay safe, and don't question the horizon.
The rules were clear, and expectations were set.
And she almost obeyed her way into a smaller life.

But her people were dying.
And the ocean kept calling her name.
That’s the heartbeat of duty.
It’s not always something you choose, but it’s always something you’re chosen for.

We can see this throughout Scripture.
David, the shepherd.
Esther, the orphan.
Mary, the teenager.

None of these people were imposing figures of bravery and charisma.
But they were all willing to say ‘Yes’ when God called.
The thing is, God doesn't call the prepared. He calls the willing.
And you've actually been preparing longer than you realize...

Every hard season.
Every moment you kept showing up when you wanted to quit,
Every quiet sacrifice nobody clapped for:
That's been the training.

Moana fails.
She doubts.
She turns the boat around.
And God still uses her.

Your hesitation doesn't disqualify you.
Your willingness is enough to start.

Duty, real duty, isn't just a task or about you being impressive.
It's about your people needing what only your obedience can unlock.
It’s an invitation to walk with God into deeper waters.

Here's your focus for today:

Name the shore you've been standing on: Write down one calling you've delayed out of comfort or fear.

Take one step into the water: Identify the smallest obedient action you can take today toward that calling.

Release the outcome: Do your part faithfully and trust that God will fill every gap your ability can't reach.

Anchor your day in this truth: “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” (Luke 5:4)

The ocean's still calling.
So, grab the oar, lift your eyes, and set sail.
