Choosing Faith When It Hurts the Most

When tragedy strikes, faith becomes more than belief—it becomes survival. This is a story of how heartbreak gave birth to purpose, leadership, and legacy.

It’s easy to lose hope when tragedy comes uninvited and hits harder than we ever expected.

In those moments, it's normal to question God's will, His plan, even His presence.

God knows that.

He knows the pain you carry.

He knows the depth of your heartbreak.

That’s why He sent His Son.

Jesus didn’t just die for our sin—He suffered to show us how to endure.

Hebrews 4:15 tells us that Jesus sympathizes with all our weakness and suffering.

On the cross, He modeled faith in action: faith in God’s love, faith in His mercy, and faith in His divine purpose—even when in hurting.

When life breaks you, let faith build you back stronger.

Pastor Linwood Dillard shared with me his journey after a tragedy struck his life.

His 13-year-old nephew, full of life and dreams of preaching, past away in a car accident caused by a drunk driver.

One moment, everything was normal. The next, the world cracked open and grief nearly swallowed him.

Yet, through the tears, something deeper rose up—faith.

When you can’t explain the pain, trust the purpose.

Faith doesn’t make grief disappear. It gives it meaning. It whispers, “Even this... God can use.”

And when you're walking through the valley of shadows, faith is the light that says you’re not walking alone.

You won't always feel strong. That’s okay.

Faith isn't about being unbreakable—it's about trusting the One who is.

You can question God and still trust Him.

Yes, you’ll ask why.

Yes, you’ll cry out.

Pastor Dillard did. He even said, “God, take me instead.”

He wrestled with grief, with doubt, with unbearable sorrow. But in the wrestling, God didn’t walk away—He leaned in.

That’s the kind of faith we’re called to.

Not perfect, polished faith—but raw, resilient, real faith.

Your deepest wound can become your greatest witness.

Pastor Dillard didn’t bury his pain—he used it.

He led his family.

He pastored his church.

He kept loving, preaching, and building a legacy of faith.

And God will be faithful to you too.

Your story doesn’t end in the valley.

This pain will shape your purpose.

This loss will deepen your love.

You’re still here. That means God’s not finished

So lean in. Trust Him. And walk forward in faith.
