There’s a well-known and powerful saying that states, “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.”
The truth behind these words is undeniable.
How many times have you caught yourself stuck in the same cycle?
The same argument with your spouse.
The same habit that drains your energy.
The same frustration at work.
You want things to change, but nothing does because you keep approaching it the same way.
Think about Peter. All night, he and his crew had been fishing. Cast after cast. Net after net. Nothing.
Then Jesus showed up and told him to do something different: “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch” (Luke 5:4).
It didn’t make sense. Peter was a fisherman. He knew the water. He had done this a thousand times. But this time he chose to obey.
There were so many fish that the nets began to break.
Sometimes the breakthrough you’re waiting for won’t come from working harder at the same thing. It comes from listening to God’s direction and being willing to change.
Different prayers.
Different habits.
Different choices.
Maybe that means pausing instead of reacting.
Maybe it means starting your day in Scripture instead of scrolling.
Maybe it means having the courage to step out of a routine that’s been keeping you stuck.
God can do something new in your life. But you can’t keep living the old way and expect new results.
If you’re looking for different results, be willing to do something different. Trust God enough to take the next step in a new direction.
