Is Your Lamp Running Low on Oil?

You were made to shine but must refill your spiritual oil consistently. Without renewal, your influence dims. Take time to recharge with God’s strength.

You’re walking down a dark path holding an oil lamp to guide your steps. It lights your way clearly, helping you see ahead and avoid stumbling. But as you walk, you notice the flame starting to flicker. The light dims, and suddenly the path isn't as clear as it was before.

What happened?

You pause to check the lamp and realize the oil is running low. The wick itself can’t sustain the flame; it’s completely dependent on the steady flow of fresh oil. Without refilling it, the lamp will eventually go dark, leaving you stranded in the darkness.

Your life works exactly the same way.

You’ve been designed to shine brightly.

But if you neglect your spiritual and emotional oil, your flame eventually weakens, and you’ll find yourself struggling to lead, encourage, and influence others the way you once did.

Even Jesus understood the importance of replenishing Himself. Despite crowds and constant demands, Luke 5:16 tells us, "But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed."

Notice Jesus withdrew often, not occasionally. He knew He couldn’t sustain His mission without consistently replenishing His spiritual oil through prayer and communion with the Father.

Your daily responsibilities, challenges, and pressures steadily drain your oil, even when you don’t realize it.

You may feel compelled to push harder, work longer, or give more. But no matter how much you desire to shine brightly, your impact will eventually fade unless you regularly refill your lamp.

So, how full is your lamp right now?

Maybe lately you’ve been feeling worn out, emotionally drained, spiritually empty, or even physically exhausted.
Maybe your patience with your family is running thin, your creativity at work is drying up, or your passion for serving others feels depleted.

If that's you, pause and reflect: When was the last time you intentionally refilled your lamp?

God promises refreshing and renewal, but you must choose to receive it.

It’s not selfish at all; it’s the total opposite. Taking care of your spiritual and emotional health is critical if you want to sustain your impact.

This week, commit to regular refilling.

Spend intentional time in prayer, scripture, or quiet reflection.
Prioritize rest, embrace moments of gratitude, and reconnect with the God who replenishes your strength.

Remember, a lamp without oil can’t fulfill its purpose. But a lamp that’s consistently refilled shines brightly, illuminating the path not only for yourself but for everyone around you.

Stay filled. Keep shining.
